Simply choose a dial setting from the seven available. The GREASOMATIC is completely self-contained--no screws, batteries or tools are needed. At normal in-plant temperatures (high 60 or low 70 degrees) the numbers on the dial indicate the life of the lubricator in months. The GREASOMATIC contains approximately 4 ounces of lubricant equivalent to about 96 standard grease gun strokes. ( Help in selecting the correct dial setting is in the Monthly Dispensing Rates Chart .) Turn the black control knob to the right (clockwise) until the arrow is opposite the number selected. The photo shows a GREASOMATIC set for 6 months. ( If you should turn the knob past the setting you want, simply turn the knob counter-clockwise back to zero and then reset to the number you want. ) |
Push in the red button until it is level with the yellow dial. This locks in the dial setting you selected and frees the black knob. Continue turning the black knob to the right (clockwise)10 or 12 times until it spins freely. That's all there is to activating a GREASOMATIC.
It is best to install the lubricator directly on the bearing or as close to it as possible. If it is more practical a remote installation is no problem. The remote line must have a minimum ID of 1/4" (3/8" is recommended) and a maximum length of 6 feet. Pre-charge the bearing and the line with the same grease. Install the activated GREASOMATIC hand tight into the fitting. Record the replacement date on both the lubricator and in your maintenance records so that a timely replacement schedule can be set up. |
